Landslide;

Tuesday night was epic, to say the least.
After about 11 p.m., all was lost- or won in this case. Barack Obama is now the 44th president of the United States of America, and I could not be more excited about that bit of information. I am so happy this was my first election I had the ability to take part in and make a difference. It was a complete success. The best part about the election results, though, was after the news had arrived and eventually spread across America. I took a walk with Joel, John, Ta and Chris around the Tech campus after Obama reached 338 electoral votes (which wasn't even the highest amount he would receive that night) in celebration, and I could not believe what was unfolding before me. For the first time in my life, and the lives of so many others, people were incandescently happy- simultaneously. People were honking their horns as they drove by us, screaming for joy, and other cars joined in response. It was as though we were all going to be okay and we knew it. I couldn't help but join in with the cheering, and I almost lost my voice. I have never been more proud to be an American. All over the world, politicians are supporting the American people in their decision to elect Obama, and I think this is a major milestone in our relationships with the rest of the world. Things are going to be different; we are going to see change; we are going to thrive as a nation and a people.
I can't believe I am a part of it.
